Results: CWL At The Dome, Saturday January 1st

Fast-paced brawling action kicked off the CWL New Year's Day spectacular as Crusher Von Steinberg, Dwayne Dark, Roy Edison and Kevin Jones fought for supremacy. Though Kevin Jones as always commanded the greatest fan support, each man acquitted himself admirably in a brutal and hard-hitting struggle for victory. Roy Edison dominated the early part of the match with his trademark hard-hitting offence, dropping his opponents with a vicious array of martial arts kicks before laying into Dwayne Dark with a dizzying ground-and-pound that drew the first blood of the match. This proved to be a crucial distraction, however, which allowed Crusher to launch a surprise attack on the dominant Edison, torturing him with a variety of submission holds before locking in the Mind Crusher. The upset victory was not to be, however, as Kevin Jones came to the rescue, blindsiding the German competitor to take control of the match himself. The contest continued in such style for some time, each man temporarily controlling the action, before Kevin Jones sealed the deal at the thirteen minute mark, pinning Dwayne Dark after a thunderous Powerbomb.

CWL's reputation for excellence in tag team wrestling was proved once again to be well-earned as perennial contenders The Beasts From The East faced 'The Red Dragon' Ian Davies and KAZ, a team looking to take victory in their first ever match. Sadly for KAZ and Davies, it was not to be. The experience of The Beasts From The East proved to be the telling factor as they ruled the ring from start to finish. First Davies and then KAZ bore the brunt of Sumo Sam's notoriously powerful Strong Style offence, coupled with the acrobatic and unpredictable stylings of The Banzai Kid, giving the new team little chance to fight back. Davies came the closest to scoring an upset, managing through great skill to catch The Banzai Kid in an increasingly complex series of pinning predicaments, before being caught off-guard by a sudden tag which once again allowed Sam the chance to run riot. The match was short-lived after that, coming to an end when Sumo Sam caught KAZ with a Backdrop Driver.

The next contest was brief and similarly one-sided. Even the encouragement of his brother at ringside could not prepare Lance Martin for the skill and showmanship of Rolling Johnny Stones. A few seconds of air guitar provided Martin with enough leeway to nail some crisp-looking suplexes, but before long Stones made the reversal, ending the match with his usual Rolling German Suplexes.

With The Wigan Bulldogs unseating Harder Better Faster Stronger less than a month before there was everything to play for in this match, as a loss here would mark the veterans down as the shortest-lived champions in CWL history. Menace and Barnes came down to the ring determined to humiliate the men who defeated them for the belts, and set to the task with a will. With youth and aggression on their side the challengers controlled the early part of the match, but a man would have to get up very early to catch the Bulldogs napping. Price and Morgan had their long-time opponents thoroughly scouted, and endlessly frustrated their attempts to bring the match to a swift conclusion with a combination of innovative counters, punishing submission holds and good old-fashioned cheating. The match was drawing near to the twenty-minute time limit with no finish in sight, when fate intervened. And by fate, I mean Pavel Vanszycha. With Menace getting the worst of the action in the ring, the Krakau Crippler caught Barnes with a blistering surprise attack, doubtless intending to soften him up for their match later that night. When Menace finally managed to make the break to tag out, he found his partner brawling at ringside, and salvation nowhere to be found. Leo Price distracted the referee while Walter Morgan kicked Menace in the balls and twisted him into the Wigan Wrench for the submission victory.

After the frantic pace of the Tag Team Title match before, Eddie Robinson and JJared ohnson slowed the action down with a classic display of British technical wrestling. In a match that would not have looked out of place in an Olympic tournament, the competitors traded hold for hold in an unbroken sequence that lasted nearly ten minutes of precise, carefully orchestrated mat wrestling. The Canadian rookie put up a spirited fight, but in the end was unable to counter out of Robinson's famed Capital City Crucifix, which forced him to submit. After the match, Robinson took the time to raise the youngster's arm in a rare show of respect.

The arrival of Pavel Vanszycha was met with a resounding chorus of boos from the audience, who remained incensed with his recent assaults on other members of the CWL roster. His opponent, however, wrestling his second match of the night, was met with cheers that raised the roof. Petey Barnes made his way to the ring with microphone in hand, before addressing the crowd. He had challenged the so-called 'Krakau Crippler' for his disgusting, unsportsmanlike actions in attacking Geordie Jimmy Morris, an attack that had ended the beloved veteran's career. Clearly Vanszycha was allergic to fair play! Clearly the rules meant nothing to him! Any match involving him would need a very special referee, someone who had the savvy to keep an eye out for dirty tricks and the strength to enforce the rules when they were broken. And it just so happened that there was someone who had done good work for the CWL Booking Committee since the promotion's foundation who was looking for work. Vanszycha was furious when Barnes called out the referee, and new chief official for CWL: Geordie Jimmy Morris himself!

A grudge match is never a pretty sight, and this was no exception. Barnes and Vanszycha took the fight to one another from the beginning, laying into each other with ruthless aggression. Geordie Jimmy Morris seemed quite content to let the match degenerate into a brawl, only stepping in to prevent egregious violations of the rules. The crowd seemed quite happy with this ruling, and were particularly delighted when the brawl spilled out into the ringside area, where Morris showed no interest in counting either man out. The competitors harassed one another through the crowd, nearly colliding with eager fans, some of whom even went so far as to try to supply the men with weapons to escalate the brawl. Morris shut that down soon enough, however, going so far as to physically manhandle a chair out of Vanszycha's hands and retaliate in kind when the Pole attempted to shove him away. This distraction nearly proved fatal for the Krakau Crippler's chances of success, as Barnes used the distraction to launch a blistering attack, a series of stiff martial arts kicks driving his opponent all the way back to the ring. The fans went wild when a sharp kick to the head nearly knocked Vanszycha out cold and set him to bleeding profusely, but the Crippler's will to succeed proved too strong and he made his way back into the ring to continue the fight there. Barnes' momentum seemed too strong to overcome, and with Vanszycha laid out on the mat, he seemed to be about to finish the match with the final insult: by attempting to put the Pole in his own trademark submission hold. This proved to be a terrible mistake. Within moments of Barnes trying to apply the hold, Vanszycha had effected a lightning-fast reversal, leaving the young fan-favourite trapped in the centre of the ring in one of the most excruciating submission holds in the country. Tortured and unable to escape, Barnes was left with no option but to tap out.

Though it clearly pained him to do so, Geordie Jimmy Morris raised the arm of the man who ended his career in victory. This humiliation was clearly not enough for the jubilant Vanszycha, who insisted on the newly-appointed head referee of CWL performing the gesture several more times, to each and every section of the crowd. When Morris turned away in disgust Pavel grabbed him, clearly intending to press his demands further. The crowd roared its approval when Morris proceeded to lay out the smug Pole with a brutal left hook that sent him reeling out of the ring! The Krakau Crippler seemed on the point of jumping back into the ring to end yet another phase of Morris' career, when it became clear that Petey Barnes had regained his feet and was set to stand up in the veteran's defence. Faced with two-to-one odds, Vanszycha retreated to the back, as Morris raised Barnes' arm for the approval of the crowd.

Once again the ire of the crowd was raised when 'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson and his manager, the despicable Jeff Nova, made their way to the ring. Their displeasure was not helped by the fact that Nova promptly took up a microphone and addressed them once again. The time for excuses was over, he informed the assembled fans. The time for lies and evasion was done. Robert Brown had never defeated his client decisively during his tenure as champion, not once. He had been saved by draws, by pinning other opponents, by disqualifications, by any means other than actually defeating the true powerhouse of CWL, Danny Patterson. As 'The Tower Of London' displayed his impressive musculature for the crowd, Nova promised them one thing: that tonight, come hell or high water, Danny Patterson would leave The Dome as CWL Champion, or he would leave CWL entirely.

With one man's title and another man's career on the line, the last match of CWL's first show of 2011 was fast-paced and explosive from start to finish. Robert Brown had clearly taken note of the increasing mobility and rapidly developing in-ring skill displayed by his challenger and had attempted to modify his offence accordingly. He rapidly discovered that whatever preparations he had made were far from enough. Patterson's new-found ability had impressed even those fans who disliked his attitude and disregard for his fellow competitors, but tonight he revealed that he had been holding back. Displaying speed to match his power, 'The Tower Of London' was able to seize the initiative from the start, battering his long-time opponent with a volley of quick strikes and throws that had all the strength and none of the slowness that had previously characterised the monster's distinctive style. The champion, prepared for a game of cat-and-mouse where his superior speed could keep him out of his challenger's grasp, was suddenly sorely pressed to find even a second's breathing space as Patterson hammered him from pillar to post. Many competitors would simply have collapsed from sheer surprise at such an onslaught, but one thing Robert Brown has never lacked is fighting spirit. Rallying under incredible strain he began to fight back, even managing to go toe-to-toe with his giant opponent for a few moments before staggering Patterson with his signature knife-edge chops. A moment's respite was all he got, however. With the referee's attention distracted by the reeling giant, Jeff Nova took the opportunity to lay a vicious blow with his cane into the back of 'The British Samurai'. With the challenger's balance recovered, there wasn't much more to say. A single giant chokeslam put paid to any of Brown's hopes of making a comeback, laying him out so decisively that Patterson made the pinfall by simply resting his foot on Brown's chest. Three seconds later CWL was ready to crown a new Red Rose Champion, and Danny Patterson had claimed his first championship gold.

The evening was not yet finished, however. As the new champion raised his freshly-won belt aloft, He was joined in the ring by three more competitors – The Wigan Bulldogs and The Krakau Crippler himself, Pavel Vanszycha. The four wrestlers contemptuously ejected the fallen Robert Brown from the ring, while Jeff Nova once again grabbed a microphone. A new era was dawning in CWL, he declared. Apparently, some people believed that sportsmanship was enough to crown a champion, and that popularity with the public could stand in place of skill, leaving talented wrestlers to rot in obscurity while capering idiots were paid big money for the biggest fights. This injustice would not be allowed to stand. The future of CWL was now controlled by one interest: the interest of himself, and these men, the four finest that CWL had ever employed. As the audience hurled rubbish at him and his clients, Jeff Nova finished the show by welcoming the audience to the era or the Nova Corporation.

CWL would like to issue a formal apology for the brief technical malfunction that occurred as the audience exited The Dome. Why the video screens displayed the design of a stylised, flaming bird with the caption 'The Phoenix Rises: 8/1/11' is entirely unknown.

Results: CWL At The Dome, Saturday December 4th, Plus Recap Of Previous Events

CWL's last home show before the end of 2010 proved to be a fitting lead-in to the biggest event the promotion has yet to put on, scheduled for January 1st 2011.

The show opened with Kevin Jones facing 'The Red Dragon' Ian Davies in singles competition. The Dragon can easily count himself as a fan favourite, but even his support paled in comparison to the unqualified love shown for his opponent. The match was dominated by Jones, who, buoyed by the cheers of the crowd, was able to floor his opponent with a Running Powerslam to pick up the victory.

After the competitors had left the ring, Petey Barnes, one half of our Tag Team Champions, had requested a moment to speak to the audience. This request proved to be slightly misleading, as Barnes instead called out Pavel Vanszycha for his career-ending attack on 'Geordie' Jimmy Morris last month. When Vanszycha appeared Barnes laid down a blistering verbal tirade, calling him unprofessional at best and outright sadistic at worst. To redress the balance, Barnes challenged Vanszycha to face him on New Year's Day, one on one, to see what rewards such conduct gets. Pavel's response was brief, but to the point: "I am Krakau Crippler. You are nothing. I will break you."

In as extreme a clash of styles as CWL has ever seen, 'Rolling' Johnny Stones faced Eddie Robinson. Stones' unorthodox approach seemed to catch the veteran Robinson off guard, but Stones' showboating almost proved to be his downfall when Robinson took the chance to lock his opponent into a variety of painful submission holds. Stones seemed to be finished, but was able to fight back for long enough to score his trademark Rolling German Suplexes for the victory.

Next came a true David and Goliath contest as KAZ attempted to topple the unstoppable giant 'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson. In this case, however, Goliath came out on top. Except for an initial punch KAZ failed to land a single offensive move as Patterson beat him around the ring with ease, nearly knocking the Japanese rookie unconscious with a Chokeslam before making the pin with a foot on his chest.

Not content with the beating that had been dished out already, Jeff Nova demanded that his client eject their fallen foe from the ring. Patterson duly obliged, raising the broken KAZ over his head and hurling him not only out of the ring, but into the front row of the audience! The despicable Nova proceeded to harangue the crowd, the wrestlers and the management of CWL for failing to acknowledge his client's extensive achievements. The crowd were vocal in their displeasure, but Nova carried on regardless. Only now, he said, had the CWL booking committee recognised the greatness of The Tower Of London. As a result of this, the main event of CWL's New Year's Day show is fixed. 'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson will face 'The British Samurai' Robert Brown one-on-one for the Red Rose Championship - no time limits, no way to be saved by the bell. In 2011, Danny Patterson claims his first CWL championship gold.

The newly-appointed Number One Contender to the Red Rose Championship and his manager were then treated to a demonstration of their target's skills when 'The British Samurai' Robert Brown faced Crusher Von Steinberg. Crusher's skills at the art of submission wrestling are not to be denied, but he proved to be no match for the champion, who out-wrestled him at every turn. Brown seemed set on sending a message to his next opponents, showing off the combination of smooth mat wrestling combined with devastating Japanese-style slams and throws that has been his trademarked style since arriving in CWL. Strangely, though Patterson and Nova remained at ringside throughout the match, they made no attempts to interfere with or distract the champion.

In the final match of the night, Harder Better Faster Stronger faced The Wigan Bulldogs in defence of their Tag Team Championships. These teams have clashed on many previous occasions, and their experience at facing one another showed. The Bulldogs have never been able to keep up with the speed and intensity of Barnes and Menace's offence, but veteran savvy and dirty tricks gave them an advantage that the inexperience of the champions could not counter. The contest continued evanly back and forth until the arrival of Pavel Vanszycha provided a crucial distraction. Vanszycha taunted Barnes from ringside until, despite the urgings of his tag team partner, Barnes moved to retaliate. It was to prove a fatal mistake, as Walter Morgan was able to use the distraction to roll Barnes up for a shock pin, unseating CWL's first ever Tag Team Champions after nearly a year.

OOC Recap Of Major Events Since ViP Started:

Very little in major terms has happened - CWL has mostly concentrated on putting on good shows one month at a time. However, there have been several recent developments:

Geordie Jimmy Morris and Joss Thompson are both out with serious injuries as of the last show at the Dome. Morris was stretchered out after Pavel Vanszycha refused to release a submission hold following their match last month, the incident that Petey Barnes refers to this show. Joss Thompson was brutally beaten by Danny Patterson after insulting him and Jeff Nova. Morris' injuries are probably faked. Thompson's injuries looked pretty damn genuine, except that he can regenerate when nobody's looking. Seriously, he got put through a table that had obviously not been weakened first. He's lucky he didn't get impaled.

Also, last month, Kevin Jones wrestled his match - the Main Event, no less - obviously drunk. Fortunately he had three opponents rather than just one, so Robert Brown put him in a headlock and refused to let go for the entire duration of the match before making Jones submit to a fairly basic submission hold. Nothing else huge.

The Champions:


'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson, Representing Nova Corporation
Standing 7'2" and weighing in at 402lbs of pure muscle, Danny Patterson is the largest professional wrestler in both CWL and the United Kingdom. The Tower Of London is the living definition of an unstoppable force, who can proudly claim that he has never been pinned or forced to submit by any opponent in his entire career. Strong, vicious and almost invulnerable to pain, it was only a matter of time before the Red Rose Championship was slung over his shoulder, as it won't fit around his waist.

(OOC Information: Those measurements aren't inaccurate. Danny Patterson is a giant, and indeed is clearly a giant in the clinical sense of the word to anyone who knows what they're looking for. He also has extensive tattoos and a bitchin' mohawk. His matches usually consist of him throwing his opponents around like ragdolls. He's not the most agile of guys, but he moves more quickly than anyone with clinical giantism has any right to.)

Some of the longest-serving wrestlers on the CWL roster, The Wigan Bulldogs have seen competiton all over the UK and Europe throughout their storied career. Totalling nearly fifty years of competitive experience between them, there are few tricks remaining that the Bulldogs have not seen, mastered, and used whenever necessary to assure victory. Comprising British wrestling legends and Wigan natives Leo 'The Lion' Price and Walter Morgan, they are also notable as graduates of the legendary Snake Pit gym. Some of the most skilled British wrestlers of the last several decades have been trained there, and the Bulldogs are no exception to this rule.

(OOC Information: The Bulldogs certainly look like they've got those fifty combined years of experience - they're both shaved bald to hide their receding hairlines and have the look of men who used to be in fantastic shape, now scaling down to merely being good. Like many in CWL, their ring style favours long, intricate exchanges of painful-looking submission holds, although they also cheat like bastards if it looks like they might lose.)

The Contenders:

The Beasts From The East
Bringing experience of both the famed Japanese Super Junior and Strong Styles of pro wrestling to CWL,  Sumo Sam and The Banzai Kid retain their position as perennial contenders to the CWL Tag Team Titles through a mixture of speed, power and extreme violence. Former tag team champions in Japan, these intense and dedicated contenders combine high flying with pure power in a lethal mixture that has cemented their reputation throughout the UK.
(OOC Information: Sumo Sam certainly looks like a Sumo Wrestler. He's bloody HUGE. Fortunately for all concerned, he wears a singlet to wrestle rather than whatever the sumo nappy-thing is called. His style is clearly sumo-based, involving a lot of charging into people and slapping them about the face and chest, occasionally punctuated by picking them up and dropping them on their GOD-DAMN HEADS. The Banzai Kid wrestles in a full ninja outfit, complete with mask. He is notable for the fact that while in the ring, he never stops moving. His style alternates brief bouts of technical wrestling with bouncing around the ring like Sonic The Hedgehog. Brief YouTube research will reveal that the pair wrestle in a number of other promotions as comedy Japanese stereotypes, and also wrestled in Japan as comedy English stereotypes.)

Crusher Von Steinberg
One of the most solid veterans of the European wrestling scene, Crusher is famous for his mastery of the Mind Crusher, the feared submission hold that has claimed him victory in promotions across the continent. Once locked in, few are able to resist the incredible pain it inflicts. Crusher is no longer able to compete in Scotland after threats of legal action by former opponents for damages sustained while in the Mind Crusher.
(OOC Information: Crusher is tall, bald, and looks a bit mad. He probably is German. The Mind Crusher involves him grabbing hold of his opponent's head and, apparently, squeezing really hard. Against all odds, it actually looks like it might work.)

Dwayne Dark
With a  record of 13 - 0 - 0 in amateur boxing competition, 8 of those wins being by knockout, Dwayne Dark boasts some of the hardest-hitting offence in CWL. Few men can stand up to a volley of his strikes face to face, though many have tried and failed. With a few more years of experience, Dark could be one of the names to watch out for in CWL.
(OOC Information: Dwayne Dark certainly fights like a boxer. He's short and muscular, and usually loses whenever someone actually tries to wrestle him.)

Eddie Robinson
After thirteen years in the sport of professional wrestling, Eddie Robinson has seen pretty much everything there is to see. He knows the ring inside and out, and his experience is always plain to see.
(OOC Information: Yes, he really is so boring that he doesn't get any more description. Eddie Robinson doesn't look especially threatening, and does absolutely nothing with any flash or flair in the ring whatsoever.)

Harder Better Faster Stronger
Petey Barnes and Menace are the members of one of the most dangerous tag teams in professional wrestling today. Despite having less than a decade of experience between them they have rapidly risen to the top of the tree in CWL, a position they do not seem likely to surrender any time soon. With Barnes' high-speed offence coupled to Menace's speed and power, on top of the incredible athleticism shared by both men, Harder Better Faster Stronger's dominance over tag team wrestling in the United Kingdom is set to continue for a long time.
(OOC Information: Petey Barnes is slim and handsome with bleached-white hair. Menace is huge, muscular, heavily tattooed, and looks like a total psychopath. Claims about their athleticism are not exaggerated, although to anyone with experience of pro wrestling their lack of experience is plain to see. The pair are massive fan favourites.)

'The Red Dragon' Ian Davies
The Welsh Wonder, The Swansea Sensation, The Red Dragon - Ian Davies is a man of many names, many talents and no limits. A stellar career in 21st Century Wrestling out of London has prepared this warrior of the squared circle for any challenges he may face, while his unique aerial offence leaves his opponents entirely unprepared for him.
(OOC Information: First thing's first, Davies has awesome face paint. I mean, really awesome. A lot of merchandise sells with that design on it. In the ring, his style is definitely unlike anyone else in the promotion in that it's very acrobatic and highly unrealistic.)

Jared Johnson
Bringing Commonwealth representation to CWL, Jared Johnson represents some of the best that Canadian wrestling has to offer. From the country that brought us the Hart Family, Chris Benoit and Chris Jericho, Johnson looks set to live up to the example of his countrymen, learning well from every match in which he wrestles and displaying technical skills to match some of the best in the country.
(OOC Information: He's well-built, confident in the ring, has solid fan support and is actually really good at what he does. If there's a reason why he loses as much as he does, it's not obvious.)

'Rolling' Johnny Stones
True genius rarely confines itself to just one area. Johnny Stones is a disciple of both the sports and entertainment worlds, having conquered both wrestling and music. While the fans have yet to see him perform in his musical capacity his stage presence can be clearly felt even in athletic competition, which has coupled with his natural skill to see him achieve great success in CWL.
(OOC Information: Johnny Stones looks completely out of place in CWL. He dresses and acts like a hybrid of rock stars from across several decades, frequently pauses mid-match to indulge in some gratuitous air guitar, and poses more than any man has a right to. He's also surprisingly good at what he does, wrestling in the American style, with a great many strikes, throws and slams.)


'The Phoenix' Joss Thompson
Since suffering a severe, almost career-ending injury at the hands of 'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson, Joss Thompson has undergone a radical change of attitude. Consumed by revenge, this US native has devoted himself to destroying Patterson's career, along with anyone who aligns themselves with him. Any enemy of Nova Corporation is a friend of the CWL crowd, it seems - how The Phoenix's former enemies will take to his new goals remains to be seen.
(OOC Information: Yeah, this is Jonno's character. He now wrestles under a pretty bitchin' mask covered in flame designs, and from a slow-paced, low-intensity style based around stalling, has begun to display new heights of viciousness. He still acts and talks like a bad guy, he's just a good guy by default as he's going after the most hated man in CWL.)

KAZ
Fresh out of training at the World Level Wrestling dojo in Japan, KAZ is looking to put his skills to use in the wider world. Speed, youth and enthusiasm are his greatest assets, and with time and experience he should soon learn the technique to back them up.
(OOC Information: He's a tiny Japanese guy. His wrestling style involves being beaten up by everyone else. That's... it, actually.)

Kevin Jones
Guts and charisma have led this Llangollen native to become one of CWL's overnight success stories. His talents have bought him the love of the fans and that love has been repaid with a meteoric rise to the top of the pile - in the last year Jones' win record in singles competition is beaten only by Robert Brown and Danny Patterson. With fire and fighting spirit enough for ten men, as well as the services of his delightful valet Bambi, Jones has made it his mission to turn overwhelming fan support into victory for the grandest prize of them all - the CWL Red Rose Championship.
(OOC Note: Do you know what it sounds like when a whole arena full of people shout someone's name at the same time, all in really bad Welsh accents? Watch a Kevin Jones match and you'll soon find out. Seriously, they start the moment he shows up, keep going as long as he's there, and don't stop until he leaves. It's insane. Why they do this is entirely inexplicable as he's not actually that good. Still, there's no accounting for taste, and his merchandise always sells out.)

The Martin Brothers
Keith and Lance Martin are widely tipped by many to be the next breakout stars of both CWL and the British wrestling business in general. There has never been such strong evidence for the so-called 'sixth sense' possessed by many twins, as the natural understanding of one another's style, timing and strategy possessed by the Martins has put every other tag team in CWL to shame. There are still rough edges that need to be filed off before the youngsters can truly call themselves championship material, but being only 19 years old, time to improve is something they have in abundance.
(OOC Information: Rough edges is right - their timing isn't ideal, they've no knack for storytelling and their repertoire of offensive moves is limited at best. On the other hand, claims about their chemistry in the ring together aren't exaggerated, something that gives their matches some much-needed flair. Physically, they're young, handsome, muscular, and go out of their way to play up how identical they are.)

Pavel Vanszycha, Representing Nova Corporation
CWL's Polish representative boasts an in-ring style that might be politely described as ruthless. More commonly, however, Pavel Vanszycha is condemned by fans and opponents alike as vicious, cruel and outright sadistic. The self-styled 'Krakau Crippler' proudly boasts of being banned from competition in his home country after severely injuring three of his opponents to win an Olympic qualifying tournament, and only recently put CWL veteran Geordie Jimmy Morris out of commission after refusing to relinquish his signature submission hold once the match was over. How Vanszycha has avoided official reprimand for his actions is unknown, but the question must be asked: how many careers must be ended before something is done?
(OOC Notes: Hype about career-ending submission holds aside, Pavel Vanszycha is obviously an extremely accomplished amateur wrestler in fantastic physical condition. He also looks really, really evil. Seriously. He's got these cold, staring eyes that seem to bore into your very soul... DAMN he's creepy when he wants to be. Not the sort of guy you'd want to meet down a dark alleyway, vampire or not.)

'The British Samurai' Robert Brown
Robert Brown is one of the most experienced workers in British wrestling today. He has worked extensively in promotions throughout Europe and lived and trained in Japan for eight years as an employee of the legendary Golden Canvas Grappling. The strict code of honour that he learned during this time is something to which he frequently attributes his great success; he has no time for those who bend or break the rules to achieve their goals, and has never once even been warned by a referee about his conduct, let alone disqualified. He is widely hailed as one of the best technical wrestlers working in Britain today, and has even been declared as the spiritual successor to the great Johnny Saint.
(OOC Information: Robert Brown looks distinctly unthreatening, being slightly tubby and balding. His style in the ring, however, is every bit up to the hype, and largely involves twisting his opponents into frankly dangerous-looking submission holds.)

Roy Edison
The world of Mixed Martial Arts has been kind to this New York native. After a successful career in Cage Rage Championships, Edison turned his eyes to the world of professional wrestling, seeking to expand his experience and achieve the same recognition in other combat sports. An explosive striking game coupled with lightning takedowns make Edison an incredibly exciting fighter to watch, and a dark horse candidate for championship success in the future.
(OOC Notes: An explosive striking game, lightning takedowns and an inability to pull his punches - these are the things that make Edison unique. His style is brutally realistic, to the point where it's pretty clear that half the time he's not even bothering to think about it and is just decking people. Then he stands around for a while, not sure what to do because he can't just keep laying into them, which looks a bit pants. He's lithe, heavily tatooed, and looks a bit like Snoop Dogg if he shaved his head and really, really worked out.)


The Staff:

Jeff Nova, Representing Nova Corporation
Mister Nova's repeated financial investments into CWL have given him a privileged position within the company's makeup and a unique influence over the CWL Booking Committee. Some men would shy away from vulgar displays of power and incessant bragging about their massive advantage, but subtlety is a word that Mister Nova has long since forgotten. Taking every chance to abuse what power he can grab, his work on behalf of 'The Tower Of London' Danny Patterson is tireless, unstinting and as filled with lies and broken rules as he can possibly manage. With the recent formation of Nova Corporation, Nova's clients have come to hold all the titles in CWL. With backup from both their manager and their stable-mates, these title reigns may end up breaking records for all the wrong reasons.
(OOC Notes: Many of you may remember Jeff wandering around Conclave meetings being nice to everyone. This is apparently where he gets all his bad feelings out. He might as well be a different person, playing the character of a whining, cheating, paranoid, lying, arrogant, delusional dickhead with extremely bad dress sense to the hilt. He's also Rank 4 Art Form: Public Speaking worth of entertaining.)

Bambi
When Mister Nova gained employment with CWL, one of his conditions was that his brain-dead trophy wife be employed as well. This is a decision that he has since come to regret. While the exact nature of the 'extra services' Bambi provided to keep Danny Patterson under control were never fully revealed, the services she provided Petey Barnes after taking a shine to the young man were about as clear as day, much to Mister Nova's infinite frustration. After Petey Barnes' decision to focus on his in-ring career over personal distractions, Bambi attached herself to fan-favourite Kevin Jones, much to his delight and Mister Nova's continued impotent rage. Since then, Bambi has been a constant presence at ringside in support of her 'friend', providing encouragement and extremely immoral support.
(OOC Notes: If you want to see Lisa Wesolowski dressed up like a complete whore and acting like she's been chemically lobotomised, this is the place to do it! Seriously, she wears like almost nothing. And whenever they're entering or leaving, Kevin Jones gropes her constantly. It's kind of distasteful.)

Geordie Jimmy Morris
A thirty-year veteran of the British wrestling scene, Geordie Jimmy Morris' career recently came to a sad end at the hands of 'The Krakau Crippler', Pavel Vanszycha. While Morris is still under contract to CWL, his injury prevents him from competing in the ring and it is almost certain that he will never wrestle again. This has not ended his in-ring involvement, as he now serves as CWL's head referee, willing to enforce the rules with a closed fist if necessary.
(OOC Notes: He's a broken-down old man in his fifties with a terrible mullet and no life outside the wrestling industry. He used to wrestle in about as slow a manner as he could get to avoid wearing himself out too quickly. Anyone who trains at the CWL School Of Pro Wrestling will mainly be trained by this guy.)

This blog is intended to contain information for players of Vampires In Public who wish their characters to follow the events of Championship Wrestling From Lancashire shows. For the most part it will be written from an IC perspective, with OOC notes dropped into the text where relevant.
